Loreto

DESCRIPTION
Nestled on a gentle hilltop, Loreto is world famous for the "Basilica della Santa Casa" - Holy House Sanctuary - one of the most ancient and well known Catholic pilgrimage destinations. Here it is treasured the Holy House relic where Vergin Mary was born and received the annunciation of Jesus birth.

Perhaps the sacred atmosphere you can breathe around town or perhaps the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding countryside, the result is a definite feeling of peace and harmony the visitor will sense straight away.

Loreto panoramic views will stay in your eyes for a long time. From here it looks like you could almost embrace the whole Conero Riviera, from hills to sea, a mosaic of small towns, olive trees and sunflowers fields.

Piazza della Madonna is bordered on two sides by the Apostolic Palace built on a project of famous Architect Bramante while on the center we find the lovely Fountain Majeure built at the beginning of 17th century, whose original purpose was to refresh pilgrims. The west wing of the Apostolic Palace houses the Holy House Museum and Galler where you can find a few Lotto paintings and a prestigious maiolica collection from the Renaissance period.
