Antiquarium Musem of Numana

MUSEUM

NUMANA

DESCRIPTION

Opened to the public in 1974 following a fortunate excavation campaign started at the end of the 60's in the Conero area, the Antiquarium Museum keeps several finds of the Picene civilization.

One of the main finds exhibited is the burial complex  of the Sirolo’s Picene Princess  attributable to the end of 6th century BC.
In the area between Sirolo and Numana they have brought to light three Picene necropolis whose finds are mostly exposed in the Antiquarium. One of the three necropolis called “ I Pini” is open to the public for visits.

Other interesting pieces stored in the museum are some greek black-figure vases,  attic red-figures vases and a mosaic from 6th century AD.
