Underground caves of Camerano

Beneath  the historic centre of Camerano runs a maze of  intriguing tunnels and mysterious  rooms accessible through the main palaces of the town.

Destined to different purposes, including that of bomb shelter during WWII, the underground town of Camerano  has been opened to the public in 2008 and it is possible to take suggestive guided tours.
The original use remains unknown even if the presence of bas-reliefs, wonderful decorations (friezes and religious symbols) and relevant architectonical elements suggest a possible residential use.

Our tip: at the end of the visit, take a break at the characteristic wine corner to sip a glass of the excellent local Rosso Conero.
