Recanati

DESCRIPTION

Just 7 km away from Porto Recanati you can find the town of Recanati, placed on the top of a hill, almost 300 meters above sea level. Its well-chosen location allows to enjoy a magnificent view, from the Adriatic sea to the Apennines.

We advise to discover Recanati starting from Palazzo Leopardi, the poet's birthplace, located in the famous square of "Saturday in the village" and still inhabited by the descendants of the family. Inside the poet’s house you can observe objects and manuscripts belonged to the writer and also his father's library containing 20,000 volumes.

Following the tourist trail, you can get to Mount Tabor, known as the "Infinite hill," one of the most stunning sights in the entire region.

The heart of the town is Piazza Leopardi where we find the statue of the illustrious poet and the elegant Town Hall, a neoclassical building dating back in the late nineteenth century. The thirteenth-century "Torre del Borgo" is the only evidence that remains visible of the old Town Hall.

At the end of the main street, corso Persiani, we find the Recanati Cathedral and the Diocesan Museum. Little further on, there is Villa Colloredo Mels, home of the Civic Art Gallery which boasts a prestigious collection of paintings including works by Lorenzo Lotto.

Other museums that you can visit in Recanati are the Archeological Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Painters of Emigration, the Guitar Museum "Oliviero Pigini" and the "Silicon Inside" Museum, dedicated to silicon.
