Tactile Museum "Omero" (Museo Tattile Statale Omero)

MUSEUM

ANCONA

DESCRIPTION

The Tactile Museum "Omero" of Ancona is one of the few museums in the world dedicated to the blind.

It develops through an exhibition of over 150 works, mainly representing scale models of the most important existing architectures (Parthenon, St. Peter ...) and reproducing famous sculptures (Michelangelo's Pietà, the Nike of Samothrace ...). There are also archaeological finds and some works by contemporary artists. Of course, panels with descriptions in Braille supplement the entire route.

The museum is a unique experience, even for people who do not have visual impairment, as it allows you to learn art with your touch.
Upon booking, you can also take part in workshops, while very interesting educational events are often organized, such as "blindfolded visits", an exhibition itinerary through which you will discover art pieces using only your hands.
The Tactile Museum "Omero" is hosted at the Mole Vanvitelliana of Ancona and admission is free.
