The Sanctuary of Blessed Grieving Virgin Mary is in Campocavallo, a hamlet in the municipality of
Osimo, in the hillyh interland of the Conero Riviera.
It was built in 1893 to celebrate a miraculous event occurred the year before in the nearby little church. According to tradition, on the 16th of June 1892 an image of Grieving Mary inside the church wept tears and the next day moved her eyes. The phenomenon kept repeating for ten consecutive years, attracting faithfuls and pilgrims from all over Europe.
Designed by architect Costantino Costantini the layout sports a Latin cross plan with three aisle delimited by ten pillars and six columns.
